I went sideways last year when I drew this–not sure why, this is also what I wrote last year…In my 20’s we, my husband and I, had a blue, 1975 Jeep Renegade, CJ5, Levi edition. My favorite vehicle of all times. Many adventures were had, including 4-wheeling to get my labor started with our son Jake. One of the most important pieces of equipment was our wench. Once we’d exhausted our opinions and plans to get unstuck, as the sun was setting, tempers rising and food running short, we’d cast all those aside and finally pull the cable out of the wench, wrap it around a tree and let it work its magic. Within moments we were free and on the road again. I have found this to be true in my spiritual life as well. My biggest boulder to date has been preconceived ideas of what God wants from me. Obedience seems so suggestive and up for individual interpretation. I’ve discovered all He wants me to do is wrap myself around His cross, trust him for the REST and immediately I am free.

This became true to me when I discovered The Holy Spirit was the seal of God. I had been taught it was the Sabbath. It may sound silly to some, but it was a hard struggle to put that aside and trust God to teach me what he expected from me and not let my own opinions and traditions dictate. Life has been so much fuller ever since.  The Sabbath was not the only doctrine I’ve had to cast aside to trust Him for my salvation, and now, as my experience with Christ grows, I have discovered, that it’s not just “doctrinal” opinions I have held that He wants me to get rid of, but also, directional opinions–how He wants my life to play out.  Life with Christ is an “off-road” adventure–I love it.  I never know what’s ahead but I ALWAYS know I’m safe and secure when I’m tied to the cross.
