I got to thinking when I read this;
“If we are to be disciples of Jesus, we must be made disciples supernaturally. And as long as we consciously maintain the determined purpose to be His disciples, we can be sure that we are not disciples. . (Hummmm?) . . God does not ask us to do the things that are naturally easy for us–He only asks us to do the things that we are perfectly fit to do through His grace, and that is where the cross we must bear will always come.” (And I added, where the second mile comes in–it’s never easy)–Oswald Chambers
that we humans/Christians are again, focusing on the wrong things.
We logically look for our “strengths” to give Him–things we can readily identify but don’t really come at a price to us. We’re “comfortable” doing them, it’s as natural as breathing. Logically, those are the things God will want from us, right!? But Jesus says, “Go the second mile . . . Yes, I want those gifts but I want even more . . . I want YOU, I chose you and you are mine.” Sacrifice, faith and trust come in here, not lists which limit us. So, before you sign up for another “Spiritual Gift” class, try getting with God, the great Teacher, alone, daily, each moment of the day, and let Him use you–unconsciously use you. He’s looking for vessels not credentials.
