Today’s post goes along well with the sermon I heard at church this morning. The passage used was 1 Peter 3: 8-15. vs 8, “Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
In other words, get along. How in the world are you supposed to do that in a world where people are so divided? In a nutshell, find something in your heart that identifies with something in another’s heart and camp there. Stay away from divisiveness and live in peace. The passage goes on to say in vs. 13, “Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you suffer for what is right, you are blessed.” I’ll leave you to read the rest of the passage, it’s good! This whole concept can be a challenge but I’m going to challenge myself to do find something I can identify with in another, especially during the upcoming election season when things get so hot. How about you? You never know, we may find we have more in common with others than we thought 😉
This is good, I am doing this right now with a colleague at work. Thank you for posting.
