Jesus wasn’t kidding when he said, “Go the second mile,” “turn the other cheek,” “give your enemy your coat.” I must say, personally, these commands seem like the most unjust of all–but yet again–He turns His cheek for us on a regular basis. We insult Him with our actions or words, He says, “I love you!” We rob from Him, He says, “But wait, there’s more, here’s my life.” We misrepresent Him and He continues to give us another chance to represent Him. He’s also serious when He says He wants to live in us–we can’t pick and choose the times He lives in us and we can’t pick and choose the opportunities He gives us to reveal His sweetness.

Joyfully be licked–or bit! Whichever the case may be. Remember, Jesus said, “I count it all joy to lay my life down for you.”
So (I’m speaking to myself especially here), next time your head gets bit off unjustly, think about it as Jesus giving us an opportunity to show His sweetness–after all, the sweetest treat is always at the center and some bites have to be taken by someone to get to it. This may be their only opportunity to experience “Sweet Jesus.”
