Be Refreshed/ing…

Doodle response for January 20. My Utmost for His Highest.

Doodle response for January 20, #101. My Utmost for His Highest.

This morning I woke up foggy, groggy and I had NOTHIN’ when it came to getting my devotional, let alone responding with a doodle or writing.  (This happens more often then I’d like to admit, which reminds me of how useless I am without my Source. I pray extra hard for that day.)  The phrase, “Being born again from above is an enduring, perpetual, and eternal beginning.  It provides a freshness all the time in thinking, talking, and living–a continual surprise of the life of God.,” kept wafting through my mind.  What is fresh?  What do I like fresh?  I saw fruit…but that rots.  I saw bread…but that dries up and molds.  I needed something that was being used up but refreshed continually.  Still a blank, my cat needed my attention (to be petted) at the food dish.  I thought, “this food stinks!” and at that moment a plug-in air freshener came to mind.  That was my light bulb (plugged-in) moment (and here I thought he was just being an annoyance).

Plug-in air fresheners–the power is continual and they can be filled over and over again with the “scent of the day.”  Here’s where my mind gets a little warped, but bear with me for the sake of the illustration.  The only time plug-in’s loose their effectiveness (scent) is when they get bored with the source and take off on their own.  Yes, they may be spilled out, which may smell good for a while, but assuming all plug-in’s look like my illustrations, they can’t be refilled, their little cup bottoms just keep tipping them over and pretty soon they don’t even have anything to spill out.  They still look like and are plug-in’s, they’re just useless without their source.

Moral of the story…to stay fresh (reborn) you have to stay plugged-in!  Don’t grieve your Source. (Have you ever noticed how sad (grieved) an outlet looks when it’s missing its plug-in?)
